A Rather Big Thing....

Well, this is the point where I shout from the rooftops that I HAVE FINISHED SCHOOL AND TEE EXAMS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty cool huh?

Well it happened a while back now, I finished school on the 24th of October, I finished TEE (Exams) on the 19th of November and I graduated on the 20th of November. It was kind of sad thinking I had finished an amazing part of my life, but where you close one door, another one opens as they say ;)

Since then I have done a lot really. I went to leavers (schoolies) with my awesome friends to Bussselton for 7 days and we had the best fun. I also had my WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) audition. It went pretty well I think and yesterday I got back from Sydney where I had been for 4 days for Cro Fest, a singing competition. Next Saturday however I am leaving for Singapore/ Malaysia for a holiday with my family.

Everything has been pretty sweet really. I'm taking every opportunity to have a great time really before next year where everything changes.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Love Anea

Exams!

Well one down and 5 more to go! Today I had my English exam and I guess it went alright. However, towards the end of the exam I suddenly got a burst of hay fever and started sneezing and sneezing and my eyes got all puffy and I couldn't see and Allira was next to me going "what the hell is happening to you?" Luckily I only had the conclusion to write on my essay and then I was done. It was totally crazy and by the time i walked out, I was fine again. As I said, crazy! So tomorrow I have my Human Biology which I think will be alright and the next Tuesday is Maths, Wednesday is History and then Friday is music written but my music practical is not until 2 weeks after that.

Well at the moment one of my best friends Steph is in Croatia and I'm missing her like crazy. She left last week but I didn't hear from her until today because she just got her new number but she's ringing later yahhh

Anyways now I'm jut babbling because I don't have much to say. Anyways back to studying. Cao

Exercise

I think exercise is very important in life and that's why I've joined a gym. Next Generation gym to be exact and can I just say its FREAKING AWESOME. It just makes you want to do exercise for ever and ever and ever. People who know Next Generation gym will know what I'm talking about.

I went last night and went on all these cool machines. I went with my friend Boris. After we went and got Hungry Jacks which I kinda guess defeats the purpose but oh well. I'm also really sore today which I guess kind of sucks but oh well.

Today I also applied for university and it was scary let me tell you. I can't believe this is all happening. Its so surreal.

Sorry I haven't much to say today but here's a bit of humour....this is hilarious. It's Novak Djokovic, number 3 tennis player in the world making fun of other tennis players. If you know your tennis.. this will be really funny for you

Recital Night

Hmmmmmmmm lets see. This just might sum it up. Recital Night was ABSOLUTELY FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!!!

Yes that might just do it. Now for some details. Well it was quiet a busy day. So recital night was on Thursday the 13th of September and it was one of the best days of my life. Not even exaggerating there. So that day I got to school and it went on as normal really. I had a human biology practical exam after lunch and then straight after was music but we were going to go to Don Russel Performing Arts Centre for the Rehearsal. We were suppose to leave at 2.30pm but if you know Mr Loveday you would know that was never going to happen. After much stressing and getting together of things we left at 3.20pm. Janelles rehearsal was suppose to be at 3pm and mine at 3.30 but because we were late, mine didn't start until after 4pm. I was trying not to stress but because I live in woop woop land, it would take me half and hour to get home and then I had to straighten my hair which takes forever (If you've seen my hair you would understand). So my rehearsal should have finished just after 4.30 but it went a bit longer, plus my dad was stuck in traffic because there was an accident in the freeway so we didn't leave the rehearsal until 5.10 and we had to take the long way home PLUS I had to stop at the shops to get the presents for Mr Loveday AND we had to leave at 7pm.

WELL, we didn't get home till 6pm and i was totally freaking out. Thankfully my friend Steph was there and she sat my bum down and straightened my hair which only took half and hour (?) really weird. Anyways after that, got dressed did my makeup and we were out of there by 7pm which was amazing. At this point i was totally calm and couldn't wait to get there and perform.

Well we got there at 7.30 and I went backstage to get ready. Janelle and Allira and Rohan arrived and they all looked amazing! Rohan looked so funky and Allia and Janelle looked absolutely stunning! Janelle had this awesome hair piece in her hair and Allira had this gorgeous white dress on! Well before we knew it, everyone had arrived and we started at 8pm exactly. Because i wasn't on until after intermission, I watched the first half with the audience. Janelle was first and man was she great. She plays classical piano by the way. My favourite piece was MoonLight Sonata for sure. Then came Allira who was a little nervous i knew but it didn't show. However at one point, she started singing the same song again but it was a different tune. It was quiet funny, when she realised she was like, " Sorry about that. I just like the Song Cry Me A River so much i thought i would sing it again." It was really funny.

After intermission i went backstage to get ready. Rohan was before me and he plays bass and I was lucky last. He played so so well. He last song was the best. He played Super Mario theme and it was so funny! Then there was me. I couldn't wait to get up there and perform. It started off OK. Everything went smoothly and I was having the best time until we got up to my second last song which was my favourite. It was a blues tune called Dr Feelgood. Everything went great until the ending which got totally stuffed up and we ended up playing and whole head again but thankfully everyone in the audience didn't notice the stuff up and I didn't get marks taken off for it. :) My last song was my hardest and i think i managed to pull it off apart from some dodgy notes here and there.

Over all, a fantastic night and I couldn't of asked for a better one. Friday morning we were suppose to have a music test but Mr Loveday couldn't find the CD he had to use and he ended up saying, " Oh well, the Lord is on your side this morning because i cannot find this CD" so we just sat in the office and had a little party and got our marks for recital night back and we all got A's!!!!!

What can I say. One of the best nights of my life.

Toddles, Anea

This crazy world....

It's been awhile hasn't it. Many things have happened to me but there's so many things that i can't be bothered writing them all down which is kind of pointless really because this is suppose to be a blog site but whats even the point of me writing this blog when i don't even want to write the stuff that's suppose to go into a blog. Concerned. But I'm going to do it anyways.

Well let's see..... my mock exams are in two weeks. I don't want to do them. No surprises there really. That kind of goes for the TEE as well. Don't you think this whole TEE thing is kind of whacked? I mean here you have 16 and 17 year old kids studying for exams that pretty much determine your whole future. And I know "Even if you don't get into university, there are other options to get in and blah blah blah blah". But really, who wants to fail getting into uni after studying for a whole year to get there when they finish school. Not me.

Recital night is in two weeks which is kind of whats keeping me going at the moment. Our music class has kind of dropped from nine to four students during the course of the year so its only Janelle, Rohan, Allira and I performing now. With so few of us we now get to perform all of our set pieces which included six for Allira and I (being jazz vocalist and apparently 'having it easy' so we have to sing more songs) and Rohan and Janelle doing five each. Yesterday I was arranging my pieces after school with my music teacher, also refereed to as Johnny or Johnson (its an inside joke and if you don't know what it is then your not cool) Just joking. Not really a inside joke, Mr Loveday just decided to call us all Johnny one day around 2 to 3 years ago and so from then on, everyone is called Johnny. Anyways we were arranging my pieces yesterday and can I say that they sound great and I can't wait to sing them! Last recital night, last everything this year really. Just had our last music camp which kind of really sucked. Things suck a lot when you get to year 12 can I just say.

Now I'm just blabbering because I have a History assignment that I'm avoiding. I saw Brooke Fraser the other night in concert with my best friend Allira. Can I just say that she is truly brilliant. Here are some of her clips. Enjoy and Goodbye!

Liitle Talks on Nothing

Well, right now I am on my holidays and I go back to school next Tuesday and I'm totally dreading it. My holidays have been great... no fantastic so far. On my first weekend of the holidays, my best friend Allira and I went to see James Morrison and WASO (Western Australian Symphony Orchestra) play at the Perth Concert Hall. It was a Jazz Meets Symphony performance and it was brilliant! My favourite song they played was "Birdland" which I played with my jazz band last year.

The following week I did a number of things, I went to Fremantle for the day with my friend Stephanie, I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with Allira and Michelle and then on Friday night I went to Fremantle with Steph to watch a movie. We saw "Knocked Up" and it was absolutely hilarious! I recommend everyone go see it. It is truly brilliant.

Now what really made that night truly one to remember is that I drunk a coffee. Now if you guys know me, you would know that i absolutely HATE coffee.. like with a passion. But, that night a tried a Latte. Now it is true that with every sip I had to take a big gulp of water but it was actually OK. Yesterday I had a cappuccino however and that was really gross. Its back to hot chocolate and Lemon Lime and Bitters for me.

Well I didn't really do much last weekend but on Sunday I started my tremendous amount of homework. This included a human biology assignment, history notes, a booklet full of questions for human biology, I had to do research for a report I'm doing in English and I have to read this very boring book called "Cloudstreet"......twice. It really isn't my thing. So this occupied my time from Sunday to Wednesday and yesterday I went out with Stephanie to Fremantle for a drink.

Today I was suppose to go to the Croatian Consulate with my Dad to get my Croatian Citizenship but we are now going on Monday because you have to make an appointment. I'm really excited about this and can't wait. For those of you that don't know, Croatia is one of the countries where you can hold duel citizenship with Australia so I can be a citizen of two countries.

Tomorrow night I am going to the Croatian Club for a Dinner Dance. A band is coming from Sydney so it should be great! Well that's all from me for now, Happy Holidays to everyone. Stay Safe

THE Ball

I did 'THE' in capitals because really, when are you ever going to have another experience than your high school ball? Well it was last Saturday, the 23rd of June was when we had it and the venue was the Fremantle yacht club. Well one word that sums it up perfectly is fantastic. It was one of the bests nights I have ever had (I should say nights/mornings since we were up will 5am).

Well I started getting ready at 12.30 which was when my hair appointment was and then my makeup appointment was at 2. I would never had trusted myself to do my own makeup because it would have looked horrible! Anyways I got back home around 3pm and put my dress on and all that. My friend Steph came over at around 4pm and then we took lots of pictures with her and my family and then we were off to the pre-ball which was at my friend Bianca's house. Here are some pictures we took at home.

My Dad, Steph and I.

My Mum and I

We got to the Pre-ball at around 5pm and it was like the paparazzi were there. There were pictures being takes everywhere and you couldn't stop smiling for one minute otherwise a bad photo might have been produced ha ha. The only time we were able to stop smiling was when we all got into the limo but even then parents were taken pictures through the windows! The Limo ride was great and we went up to Cottosloe and then to the venue of the ball.

My best friend Allira and I.

Again, pictures were being taken left, right and centre and we finally got another rest when all the parents had to leave and we had a nice dinner followed by dancing! When we left again in the Limo at 12am, we were so tired but it still wasn't over yet... we still had the after ball which was at my friend Matt's house. What can I say but it was a sleepless night filled with so many funny stories.

All in all, it was one of the best times of my life and I will never ever forget it. So anyways this is my last week of school before I get a break for two weeks but I have 5 tests also so I better go and study now. More soon.

Feet=Bruised

Seriously... I don't think my feet have ever hurt more in my life! Last night I went to the Croatian Club in North Fremantle for a concert. The band was a Croatian band from Sydney called "Prva Liga". Steph and I went together and we danced all night. I decided to wear my ball shoes so I could stretch them before the ball in two weeks so they wouldn't hurt so much then. The were black, pointy, kitten heals. Steph wore similar shoes and we basically hobbled out of the club at 1 in the morning. Our feet hurt so much from all the jumping around. The songs were brilliant including classics from such Croatian artist as Thompson, Dilvji Jagode and heaps more that I can't remember the names off but I know the songs. I had a fantastic night.

So tomorrow starts the new school semester and I can't believe half the school year for me has gone already. (I only have 3 terms this year since I'm in year 12).) Year 12 doesn't seem so scary anymore now that the first set of exams is over. I was really scared at the beginning of the year about the last year of school and going to university next year but that all seems to have disappeared now. Thankfully, mind you.

Well I hope everyone had a good weekend and try to have a great week. (Next weekend is only 5 days away. Hang in there.) Cao

Disapointed / Not Disapointed

I swear, the amount of chances that we had at scoring a goal last night was unbelievable and did we manage to score? Of course not. Croatia had 70% ball possession, we were definitely the better team, but we still couldn't score. So it ended up being 0-0 against Russia. But what can I say! I still love this team with all my heart. While my friend Stephanie and I were watching the game (By the way, we were the ONLY girls there to watch, it was so funny listening to all these old men swearing all the time in Croatian) we noticed some new, quiet good-looking guys from the Croatian side that we hadn't before. Ha ha. Now personally, Niko Kranjcar have been my favourite player for ever but Steph fell in love with this guy, Mladen Petric. So all the girls out there reading this blog, please let me know which guy you think is better looking! I Have a bet to win!

Niko Kranjcar

Mladen Petric

And in other news... I FINISHED MY EXAMS!!!!!! Today I have the whole day off and I'm planning on going to Fremantle and sit in a cafe and do absolutely nothing this afternoon with Steph. Ha ha.

Now in my last blog I was talking about funny stories and after I finished reading that blog, I realised I have one that happened quiet recently when I was on camp at Rottnest Island (This was just before the Easter break and my school year and I had gone there for 3 days.)

Well for the camp we were given bikes so we could ride around the island and so on the second day I was riding with a bunch of friends and a few teachers. My friend Kelly was in front of me and she was riding with no hands so I reached into the basket in the front of my bike to grab my camera to take a picture. I was riding on the side of the road and next to me was a hill going down with trees and at the end was a fence. So as I reached out for the camera, I lost my balance and, I swear it was in slow motion, I started screaming and I fell off my bike and went tumbling down the hill, right on my side! I was covered in dirt and I broke my shoe too! I just lay there laughing and everyone came up and were like "Are you alright??" All they saw was me laughing so they just started laughing too and my teacher got a picture of me just laying there in the dirt with my legs trapped in the bike. Unfortunately I don't have that picture to show you but i can assure you it was absolutely hilarious. Here are some other pictures from my camp.

Anyways.. I'm off for some more sleep.. I'm still tired from waking up this morning for soccer!

Desperate Times calls for Desperate Measures!

I can hear you all now, "No Anea, don't do it!" But it's OK people, I am not going to do it. But now your asking, " Hang on, what isn't she going to do?"

A ha! Tricked ya! That was a joke from the lame world of Anea.A ha ha
Well I tell you what. When you think no one is watching, you are probably wrong. For example, I just happen to love anything that has chocolate in it, so when I was eating this lovely chocolate muffin one day, I had to eat every single bit of that muffin, which includes all the crumbs. And tad ah! There was someone watching me. That person just happened to have a camera. And that person was my famous photographer friend Janelle. So here you have "Muffin Girl." (I was even hiding in a change room to stop anyone watching but I'm telling ya, it doesn't work)
She is very talented. If you want to check out her fantastic photography go to http://mohawkinator.deviantart.com/. You won't regret it!

So where was I, oh yeah, when you think no one is watching, they probably are! I haven't got an actual picture of the event for this one but here it is anyway. Recently when I was in Bosnia, I went skiing and the second day I was there I had my first skiing lesson. Everything was going really well, I didn't even fall over and it had been like an hour. So slowly I had to climb up a small hill and just go down it a little bit and it went fine, did it a few times but I knew it was too good to be true. The forth time I went down, there was a massive whole in this snow and I started screaming and I couldn't go around it, and so I fell, hard. And who happened to be watching that time. Oh yeah, it was my mum.... with a video camera! What can you do but laugh I tell ya. But Mt Vlasic was a really beautiful place. This is one of my favourite photos.

Here's another funny story for you but I did know someone witnessed this which makes it even more embarrassing. So again, this one was On Mt Vlasic in Bosnia. This was the last day I was there and I was hanging out with my friend Marija. We decided not to go skiing but just explore the place for the day. So we managed to find the most beautiful, secluded spot and we made mini snow men. I was picking up some snow and Marija threw some snow at me, so I threw some back and turned my back to her and started running. At the same time she threw a ball of snow at me again. It hit me in the back and I just fell flat on my face with my hands outstretched and everything. I swear when I got up, I had never laughed so much in my life! It was truly one of the funniest moments i've ever had. And you know what, I even have a picture of the imprint I left. Ha ha, see where my head and arms and legs were?

And this is when I got up out of the snow. (Sorry I couldn't turn it)

So anyway, I have one more exam to go and I can't wait to finish it! Plus tomorrow night/ Thursday morning is the Croatia vs Russia soccer match for the Euro Cup qualifiers! Go Croatia wahoooo! I'm going to watch it on TV live! Can't wait. Hope you enjoyed my lame stories. :)

Damsel in Distress!

Don't you just hate it when people turn up at your house unannounced? especially when it's people you haven't seen in years? Well that's what happened to me today.

I was on the phone to Allira, studying mind you, when the other line went off. So I answered it and it was our neighbour saying that someone was at our gate. The gate buzzer isn't working so we didn't here them. I'm home alone, in track pants, hair in a frizz, looking and feeling totally disgusting because who cares what you look like when your studying? and I had to answer the door.

So it was my uncle and his family and my dads not home and so I ring him, my Uncle and him talk and there coming back tomorrow. Gah, I hate situations like those. You just don't feel up to facing the world this one day and Bam, someone unexpected shows up and it's not like anyone else can deal with it because your home alone.

So now that I've had my spat, I've found this fantastic quote that I would like to share with everyone.

… ‘our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.’
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

So there is this cool series of books called "Girlosophy" by a lady called Anthea Paul. The book that I got this quote from is called "Girlosophy: The Soul Survival Kit". It is truly inspirational book for all girls/women out there. I'm recommending it to everyone. It's full of beautiful sayings and things that just make you want to get up and do something! I encourage all girls to read or buy one, for mothers to buy it for there daughters and for girls to buy it for there friends! You won't regret it, truly.

Now there's this other topic I want to discuss... its called exams. Pain fill, horrible, mean exams. My last two are my hardest. I have so much to cover in Human biology and music.. lets not even go there. However, I am determined to get through it and get to the other side to reap the rewards! (which includes going to the Croatian club on Thursday morning at 2.30am to watch Croatia vs Russia on TV) ha ha

Anyways, back to studying for me, gahhh

We're all in this together

Hmmm, well I'm glad to say I am getting the hang of this thing thanks to my awesome friend Ashley who has a hilarious blog herself I must say! I'm contemplating whether to go and study at the moment.... and I'm thinking.... no way. Ha ha. I have all day tomorrow AND Monday. Also on Monday I'm going to play soccer with my Croatian gang ha ha as I like to call us. That would include Kat, Ollie, Frank, Boris, Stepe, Steph and me. Should be great! Off to bed for me now.

Friday, June 1, 2007

Hey there

Well I'm very new at this and I'm horrible at using computers so this is going to take me while. Well first of all I'm Anea. I live in Perth, Western Australia and I'm 16. I'm in my last year of high school, at right now I'm actually in the middle of my exams. My father is Croatian and my mother is Indian so I have quiet a background. Next year I would like to go to university here in Perth and study teaching/social sciences or maybe go to an Arts Academy called WAPPA to study music as a vocalist. I have a great group of friends whom I could not live without! My favourite place is Dubrovnik in Croatia which is my dads home town. On my summer holidays which were back in December 2006 and January 2007, I went to Dubrovnik with my family to visit my grandmother and other family. It was the middle of winter there but it was fantastic! I also went to Mt Vlasic in Bosnia, skiing. It was the first time I had seen snow and it was great!

As I've mentioned, this is my last year of high school and its been very full-on lately. I've had exams this past week and I have two more to go next week. At the end of the year I'm going to Malaysia to visit my family and I'm hoping, like really hoping, that from there I might be able to go to Croatia. But theres a lot of convincing I'm going to have to be doing there. haha. I would really like to go and see my family and friends again. Anyways, I have to go and study now. Damn it, I really don't want too. But you will be hearing from me soon.
